FAQ
What is Will Hero?
Will Hero is an online Will writing service. Our platform is designed to help people make their Will visually, with scenario testing and AI Assistance. Will Hero aims to bridge the gap between simple will kits and expensive lawyer services and transform how people around the world make their Will.
Will Hero is not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice or representation. Our service is not a substitute for lawyer advice on complex estate planning matters.
Why do I need a Will?
A Will is a legal document that outlines how you want your assets and possessions to be distributed after your death. Having a Will is crucial for having your final wishes carried out and avoiding potential disputes among family members.
There are many great reasons why you need a Will:
- Choose who will inherit your estate: A Will enables you to specify who will inherit your assets, ensuring that your possessions are distributed according to your wishes after your death.
- Choose how your estate will be divided: With a Will, you can outline how your estate should be divided among your chosen beneficiaries, including family members, friends, or charities.
- Appoint guardians for minor children: If you have minor children, a Will allows you to appoint guardians who will take care of them in the event of your passing. This ensures that your children are cared for by people you trust.
- Care for your pets: As with minor children, you can specify who you wish to care for your pets.
- Avoid intestacy laws: Without a Will, your assets may be distributed according to intestacy laws, which may not reflect your preferences. By having a Will, you can prevent potential disputes and ensure that your estate is distributed as you intended.
- Provide for your loved ones: Your Will allows you to provide for your loved ones, including partners, children, and dependents. You can make provisions for their financial security and well-being after your passing.
- Avoid family conflicts: Having a Will can help prevent family conflict and disputes among relatives regarding the distribution of your assets. By clearly outlining your wishes in a Will, you reduce the likelihood of disagreements and ensure that your loved ones are aware of your intentions, minimising potential family conflicts during an already emotional time.
In summary, creating a Will is a crucial step in ensuring your wishes are respected, your loved ones are cared for, and your legacy is preserved. It provides peace of mind for you and clarity for your family during a difficult time.
What happens if I pass away without a Will?
This is known as dying intestate, and your assets will be distributed according to your state’s intestacy laws. This typically means your property will go to your closest relatives, such as your spouse, children, or parents, but the process can be lengthy, costly, and may not reflect your personal wishes.
What is Probate?
Probate is the legal process where a court oversees the distribution of a deceased person’s assets. It involves validating the Will, paying debts and taxes, and ensuring the remaining assets are distributed according to the Will, or state law if there is no Will.
What is the difference between a Will and a Living Trust?
Your Will is a straightforward way to outline how your assets should be distributed after your death. However, it must go through the probate process, which is a legal procedure where a court oversees the distribution of your estate.
A Living Trust allows your assets to bypass probate, however setting up a Living Trust requires transferring the title of your assets into the trust, which involves more initial paperwork and ongoing management.
Will Hero currently only supports the creation of Wills.

How does the Pricing work?
When you create your Will with Will Hero, our pricing includes one year’s access to our platform. This allows you to create your Will, and update your Will as many times as you wish during that period. You also have the option to add additional years of subscription if you intend to update your Will more regularly.
It is important to note that your Will is not legally valid UNTIL it is printed and signed by you and your witnesses, in accordance with your local laws.
Do I need to renew my licence for my Will to be valid?
You can print your Will at any time during the one year subscription. Once you have done so, and are happy you have created the Will you want, you do not need to continue renewing Will Hero for your printed and signed Will to be valid.
Additional year subscriptions are for people that wish to continue to keep their Will up-to-date after their 1 year licence has expired. This is great if you wish to make updates to your Will or asset list.
For those who prefer less frequent updates, you can choose to reactivate your account at any time when you’re ready to make changes. There’s no pressure to renew immediately, giving you the flexibility to manage your Will updates according to your needs.
Don't I need to see a Lawyer to make a Will?
We’ve paid the lawyers, so you don’t have to. Will Hero is an online will writing service that drafts your will based on your inputs. Will Hero is appropriate for most Will writing needs, however Will Hero is not a substitute for legal advice or representation. If you have complex estate planning needs, or are unsure if our solutions are suitable for your personal circumstances, we strongly recommend seeking advice from a qualified legal processional.
